LOS ANGELES – Nominees for the People's Choice Awards are out, and the people choose vampires.

"Twilight" and "True Blood" were among the top nominees announced Tuesday. Fans cast more than 18 million votes online to select the nominee slate and will also choose the winners in 35 categories.

The People's Choice Awards lets the general public vote for their favorite stars and works of popular culture.

"Twilight" is up for favorite movie, franchise and on-screen team for its trio of stars: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. Stewart and Pattinson were also nominated individually for favorite movie actress and actor, and Lautner is up for breakout movie actor.

"True Blood" was nominated for favorite TV obsession and sci-fi/fantasy TV show, plus star Anna Paquin earned a nod for TV drama actress.

Fans can vote for their favorites online at http://www.peopleschoice.com.

Queen Latifah is set to host the People's Choice Awards at the Nokia Theatre. The ceremony will be broadcast live on CBS on Jan. 6, 2010.

LOS ANGELES – Halle Berry has something else in common with fellow Oscar winners Meryl Streep and Jodie Foster: The Sherry Lansing Leadership Award.

The Hollywood Reporter says Berry will receive the honor next month at the paper's 18th annual Power 100: Women in Entertainment breakfast.

The award recognizes groundbreaking contributions to the entertainment industry. Besides Streep and Foster, past recipients include Barbara Walters, Glenn Close and Lansing herself.

Hilary Swank will give the keynote address at the Power 100 breakfast, to be held Dec. 4 at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

Un-break her heart, maybe. But Toni Braxton's marriage may be beyond repair.

The Grammy-winning R&B diva and Dancing With the Stars alum has split from her husband of eight years, former Mint Condition musician Keri Lewis, Essence.com reports.

No word from the formerly happy couple on the reason behind the split or whether a divorce is imminent, but the timing would suggest it has something to do with Braxton's full-on lip-lock with singer Trey Songz during the taping of the Soul Train Awards—while Lewis was in the audience.

Braxton, 43, and Lewis, 41, met on tour in 1997, married in 2001 and have two sons.

From the pain comes the creativity. While writing songs for her upcoming album, Rated R, Rihanna had to let down her guard and draw from a private place full of pain to express herself through music.

"I'm usually a very guarded person, so having to go in and reach your emotions and personal things to say, it was very vulnerable," the Barbadian beauty, 21, told PEOPLE at Monday night's Glamour Women of the Year Awards in New York City.

She said the inspiration for her upcoming album, which will be released Nov. 23, come from "personal experiences mixed with rock and hip-hop."

Since February, when she was beaten by then-boyfriend Chris Brown, Rihanna has had to deal with court proceedings and criticism for taking Brown back. Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault after pictures of her battered face were leaked. After leaving him, she revealed that he had shoved her into a car window, punched her several times in the face, and bit her.

To Be Responsible

Now, as a victim of domestic violence, Rihanna said it's her responsibility to speak out for other women who've been through the same thing.

"I'm really a woman, a human being," she said. "I go through real situations that women all over the world go through every day. It's great to have the opportunity to be a voice for those women."

While accepting the Women of the Year award on Monday, presented by the model Iman, Rihanna entered the stage and shed a tear, claiming it was PMS, and then happily continued to thank friends, mentor Jay-Z, her mother and grandmother.

And she actually made a joke, ribbing herself for her ivory Stephane Rolland dress. "As usual, I decided do the tightest dress I could find," she said to appreciative laughter.

"She was loving it when they played her new song," says a clubgoer. "And when the deejay announced she was there, the entire place started cheering."

• It was boys only for Justin Timberlake during a recent visit to Teddy's in Hollywood's Roosevelt Hotel with some guy friends. The singer arrived with a pal around 11:30 p.m., with more buddies joining him as the night went on. While he spent most of the night texting, he did show off some of his signature moves when the Jay-Z/Alicia Keys jam "Empire State of Mind" came on, but ended up leaving solo around 1:40 a.m.

• Meanwhile, Jennifer Aniston and Sheryl Crow enjoyed a girls' night out, unwinding at Hollywood's Chateau Marmont with a third friend. The Apprentice's infamous one-named villain, Omarosa, is looking for the one — with a little help from The Donald.

The ex-contestant (formerly known as Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth) will reunite with Donald Trump for a dating reality series called Omarosa's Ultimate Merger, in which she will try to find a man out of 12 business-minded suitors, Variety reports.

"Omarosa was a great personality on The Apprentice that was watched by over 40 million people as it became the No. 1 show on TV," Trump said. "Omarosa is smart, witty and difficult, but all of those qualities will make for some very interesting entertainment."

The series is being made for cable's TV One and will feature Trump doling out love advice to his former protégé. It will be filmed at the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Las Vegas.

Robert Horowitz, an executive producer on the show, said the dating show's producers intend to depict her as anything but the heavy this time.

"We do not want to bill her or portray her as a villain," he said. "That's not what this is. You will like Omarosa; you may not want her for your son or brother, but you will easily see where she has a lot of positives in her life. She's a smart woman, and she knows what she needs to do."

NEW YORK – There was a huge pop star, a tennis phenom, a top fashion designer, a key U.S. diplomat and three Beatle wives.

But the biggest ovation at Monday's Glamour Women of the Year awards, a star-studded affair at New York's Carnegie Hall, went to 81-year-old poet Maya Angelou, whose soaring words on the power of womanhood brought many to tears and nearly everyone to their feet.

Women, Angelou told the crowd in her speech, "are rainbows in the clouds."

"I am grateful to be a woman," said Angelou. "I must have done something great in another life." As for the men: "You have to write your own poem," the poet said to laughter, including from the man who presented her award, former President Bill Clinton.

Glamour magazine's annual Women of the Year awards always honor a group of eclectic women, and this year was no exception.

Pop star Rihanna was honored, and her presenter, the model Iman, referred to the singer's ordeal early this year, when she was assaulted by boyfriend and fellow singer Chris Brown. Rihanna initially returned to Brown but said last week that she regrets it, because it sent the wrong message to her fans. Brown has pleaded guilty to felony assault.

"Now I am even more impressed with her dignity and courage," Iman said, noting that Rihanna would serve as a role model to victims of domestic violence.

Comic actress Amy Poehler received her award from "Saturday Night Live" producer Lorne Michaels, who spoke admiringly of how Poehler performed her famous Sarah Palin rap skit when she was nine months pregnant.

Poehler's advice to the young women and girls in the crowd, which included a vociferous contingent of Girl Scouts: "Girls, if boys say something that's not funny, you don't have to laugh."

Also honored was fashion designer Stella McCartney, daughter of Beatle Paul. Her dad wasn't there, but McCartney was shocked to see that three Beatle wives were presenting her award: Yoko Ono, widow of John Lennon; Olivia Harrison, widow of George; and Ringo Starr's wife, Barbara Starkey.

Tyra Banks presented the award to tennis champion Serena Williams, who also addressed the young women in the crowd: "You can do whatever you want to do. The most important belief is self-belief."

And actor Michael Douglas presented the award to Susan Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, who was also lauded via video by President Barack Obama. At a dinner later, Rice said she was inspired by many of her fellow honorees, and mentioned Dr. Jane Aronson, who works with orphans overseas and founded the Worldwide Orphans Foundation.

"We could do some real damage together," Rice said with a smile.

The Smallville mythology is growing this season with the introduction of Agent Amanda Waller. The L Word star Pam Grier, who began in 1970s blaxploitation films, has taken on the role of the DC Comics villainess, TVGuide.com has confirmed.

The 60-year-old Grier, whose career was revived by Quentin Tarantino's 1997 film Jackie Brown, will make her first appearance in the second hour of the Justice Society two-parter, slated to run in January, and will be sticking around for multiple episodes.

In one part of the Superman mythology, Waller brought on the destruction of Smallville.

Melanie Fiona may be eccentric. Or maybe she's just madly in love. Either way, her debut CD is an impressive mix of tracks that presents the many sides of the woman.

"The Bridge" finds the 26-year-old newcomer begging her man to stay put on the uptempo "Please Don't Go (Cry Baby)," leaving her lover behind on the impeccable "Monday Morning," and demanding her partner treat her the right way between the sheets on the groovy first single, "Give It to Me Right."

Though eight of the 12 tracks use samples — Fiona borrows from The Zombies, Martha & the Vandellas, the Rhine Oaks, Johnnie Taylor, Janet Kay and the Softones — she proves she can hold her own on the songs that don't use interpolations.

"Bang, Bang" is an exceptional jam, as is "Johnny," a danceable, old school-sounding love song that finds Fiona kicked to the curb, senselessly walking around singing: "Johnny, the least you could have done was drive me home."

Fiona, like newcomer Anjulie, has provided one of the best debut albums this year. The two are also Canadian-raised, Guyanese-bred singers. Must be something in the water.

CHECK THIS TRACK OUT: Fiona's husky, but soothing voice is top-notch on the drum-filled "You Stop My Heart." The passionate tune may stop your heart, too.

REGGIO CALABRIA, Italy -- Top-ranked Serena Williams will receive a hefty monetary fine but will not be suspended for her U.S. Open tirade, the president of the International Tennis Federation believes.

Grand Slam administrator Bill Babcock is due to hand his recommendation to the Grand Slam committee, which will likely announce the sanction Monday or Tuesday.

"I don't think (an Australian Open ban) would make much sense, because it would penalize the people handing out the punishment," Francesco Ricci Bitti told The Associated Press on Saturday. "For the Grand Slam committee to exclude her from a Grand Slam doesn't seem likely."

The Grand Slam committee is composed of Ricci Bitti and the four Grand Slam presidents.

Williams was fined US$10,000 after her profanity-laced, finger-pointing outburst at a lineswoman during her semifinal loss to Kim Clijsters in September. An eventual fine from the ITF could be much greater.

"A significant financial penalty makes much more sense. But it has to be significant enough for the fans (to appreciate) it," Ricci Bitti said. "Of course it may not be significant for Serena Williams, who earns tens of millions."

By winning the season-ending tour championship last weekend, Williams set the record for single-season prize money in women's tennis by topping $6.5 million in 2009. Her career prize money is now at a record $28.5 million.

Ricci Bitti spoke at the Fed Cup final between the United States in Italy, which Williams and her sister Venus skipped.

The ITF president is also involved in a request by the World Anti-Doping Agency to investigate Andre Agassi's recent admission that he took crystal meth in 1997.

Agassi wrote in his soon-to-be-released autobiography "Open" that he ingested the drug and then lied to the ATP to avoid a suspension after failing a doping test.

Ricci Bitti is also a member of WADA's executive committee.

"The WADA code is our reference point and in every doping case the rules are quite clear. There is an eight-year period for sanctions to apply," Ricci Bitti said. "In terms of the regulations, there is nothing that can be done because we're past the eight-year period. It's more upsetting than anything else -- for our sport and for the players."

Still, Ricci Bitti noted that the ATP should have a dossier on the case.

"We'll see what happens," he said.

In another drug-related case, the ITF confirmed a one-year suspension for Belgian tennis players Yanina Wickmayer and Xavier Malisse on Saturday. The duo was suspended by a Belgian tribunal this week for failing to report their whereabouts to anti-doping officials three times during 2009.

"This reminds me of the cases of Italian players involved in betting a little while ago," Ricci Bitti said. "These players need to be aware of their responsibilities. If they don't know, this is the result.

"These cases create discussion because they're not reliant on positive tests, but there are rules to respect," Ricci Bitti added. "We're awaiting the details from the Belgian federation. These kids need to wake up. They're professionals and they earn a lot of money. They don't need to merely know the rules, they should also respect them."
